Victorian Manufacturer 2007 – Present
The manufacturer was purchased privately in 2007 by a small investment group. Have been the ‘hands-on’ owner working 2 – 3 days a week in the operation. The company has a full-time management team.
Have provided mentoring to the general manager, strategic focus to the company and driven the information technology systems development and implementation. The company employs between 40 – 50 people.
International Corporation (1994 – 2009)
Originally employed as a development manager in charge of a team of 30 people developing Portfolio Management software for sale and distribution throughout the world.
Subsequently, promoted to Development Director in charge of a team of 100+ people. In this role responsible for the ongoing development and support of multiple software packages that are marketed and distributed throughout Australia and the world. Sat on the Australian executive committee.
Major achievements – improvements in software quality (client reported faults dropped 90%; problem correction turnaround times reduced from 3 months to one month) – improvements in productivity (software productivity improved threefold over 8 years; unit costs of production reduced 25% in two years)
These were achieved through organizational restructuring and alignment; the introduction of methodologies and process improvement techniques, cultural change; the introduction of personal performance standards, measurements and appraisal mechanisms; and engineering measurements and standards.
Private Consulting Company (1985 – 1994)
Software design and construction consultant to major corporations and software houses primarily in the treasury and financial markets. These companies included major banks and finance houses both in Australia and overseas.
International Consultancy (1977 – 1985)
Progressed along the company career path structure from programmer to analyst to manager. After 12 months with the consultancy was in charge of teams of 5 – 10 people and progressed to running projects of 20 + people.
